Was quite shocked when I got the news from her. Today, I sent a Teacher’s Day msg to one of my secondary school teacher. She told me she had resigned from MOE and will leave the school soon. She asked me not to tell anyone, as she does not want to break out the news yet. She has been a good teacher although there are times when she scolded us. Sad to see her leave the school but I respect her decision. There’s one teacher I would like to thank her. She is Mdm Yap Lay Eng. She is the one who had given me opportunities in the school when I was secondary 1. But she leaves the school in the year 2000. I didn’t have the opportunity to say my gratitude to her and how I wish she’s still in the school. Another teacher is the then Miss Ng(left sch in 2001), my form teacher in secondary 1 and all the while given me the support. Anyway, HAPPY TEACHER’S DAY to all teacher teaching me. Tribute to u all!

GREATLY DISAPPOINTED with young Singaporean nowadays. I'm not trying to offend everyone but i just cant stand the way young Singaporeans are thinking. The recent eliminated JunYang from the "Superstar" programme on channel U had sparked outcry among many young singaporean. They cant believed that their idol had been out from the final. Instead Tan Wei Lian will get to the final. Does really Superstar Title get to those who are handsome/pretty only? Infact i dont really support any one of them either but i just angry with those people's mindset.

Tan Wei Lian who is blind had made it into the final and will be left with Kelly to fight for the final round at the Indoor Stadium. I had read about people's blog/msn nick/article on net and even friendster forum recently which all criticize Wei Lian on why he entered the final instead of Junyang. There are even some harsh words people used on WeiLian just because their beloved handsome Junyang was out! They said WeiLian won because of 'sympathy votes' Is this been fair to WeiLian? What if Junyang was the one who win? Should i said all because of 'yandao looking vote'? Come On man!!! Wat the hell is this! WeiLian did really sing well and yes i admit Junyang can sing too. But how good is really their singing? So please use your ears to listen to singing and not your eyes to judge a person thanks! Dont think that just bcos he's different from others, people tend to sympathe with him. He has his talent too. He may well be the next Andrea Brochelli(international singer who is also blind) of Singapore.

I seldom listen to chinese song and what i can said that nowadays if one is handsome or pretty and can sing, he/she will get to fame. they are just simply selling their look to gain popularity. Have you seen a ugly singer so popular? Ans NO! I dont think chinese pop singer are really that great and so worth to idolise them. Also, chinese singer fame dont last long. After 2 to 4 yrs, a new one will outshine them and they will be fogotten. If you think all i have said are rubbish, then please enlighten me. Thanks!

An extract from the Straits Time forum on 11 Aug:( I agreed with what the writer commented)

Watching the spectacular National Day Parade on Tuesday, I was struck by the evolution of National Day song over the past couple of decades.

The recent repertoire, including this year’s Reach For The Skies, is ostensibly more melodic, sophisticated and attuned to popular culture than the previous decades’ Count On Me Singapore and We Are Singapore.

And yet, despite the former’s congruence with current tastes, the songs just don’t seem to catch on as readily with Singaporeans as the simpler, folksy songs of yesteryears. As I watched the spectators belt out Stand Up For Singapore and other campfire-like song, but sways silently to the newer sounds of Home and the aforementioned 2005 National Day song. I couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps the latter are just a tad too sophisticated for mass singing.

These National Day songs are meant to rally Singaporeans in celebration of the special day and to generate a feeling of pride in our country.

That invariably involves singing the song together as a nation. But mass singing requires simple melodies, “ Reachable” notes, and easy to-remember (that is, repetitive) lyrics – elements which the latest songs don’t quite possess. Though, I have enjoyed the fresh, inspirational and aspirational harmonies that showcase our country’s young talent, our National Day songs should be timeless, not just hip now.

Perhaps we should look towards creating less demanding songs that can bridge the gap between the “nerdy” old-school chants and the newer inaccessibly-pitched tunes – songs that people of any vocal range can readily belt out with pride……..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!!!

Singapore turns 40 years old today and we are still a young nation. Watched the parade on tv and how i missed the 1990s national day song. Last time, tv used to play song like "One people, one nation, one s'pore", " Stand up for S'pore" etc every year...now, new song such as "Reach out for the skies" etc....has replace the old one. I still love the old one as each time sing the song, it gave me as sense of national pride and loyalty. Still remember when i was a primary 5 student going for the NE National day for sch student. The goodies bag was a very simple packaging. We were given paper bag instead of the now trendy design bag with many fun stuff in it. Anyway, i still love the parade as it brings along all Singaporean all over the world together.

Yesterday got my EM3B(maths) paper retest mark. I got 75 but still was stated as 50 in record because it was just a retest. So even u scored well for the retest, it will still be a pass only. Haha..but i was happy with it. Firework shoot up in the skies...wow...they are wonderful and splendid. But, wonder how much all these is gonna cost taxpayers....Hahaha...mid year exam coming soon in early September, getting abit heated up already for it and hopefully these few weeks will be going smoothly for me. Yea..and take care all my friend!
